If you’re like many people in the pet business, you’ve thought about all types of animal-related careers, and tried your hand at a few of them.
But here’s a career opportunity you’ve probably never heard of: professional cat cuddler.
This actually exists now. Just Cats Veterinary Clinic & Cattery in Dublin, Ireland, has placed a help-wanted ad for just such a role.
The ad explains that the ideal candidate “must have gentle hands capable of petting and stroking cats for long periods of time.”
“They need to be softly spoke and capable of cat whispering to calm the nerves of some of our in patients,” the ad continues. “An ability to understand different types of purring is a distinct added advantage in helping you secure this position with us.”
The Huffington Post reports that the job is expected to pay the equivalent of between $22,000 and $28,000.
Veterinarian Aoife Caulfield explained to the Huffington Post that “the essence of the job is having a staff member that is responsible for ensuring that our patients and guests have a pleasant experience while receiving their healthcare.”
The ad notes: “A veterinary council of Ireland recognised qualification is essential for this role.”
Sounds like it could be the “purr-fect” job for an animal lover with the right credentials.
