Lucas Saxe
(PRESS RELEASE) Lucas was born in New York City. He graduated from Westhampton Beach High School and then Principia College in Elsah, Illinois. Lucas met the love of his life, Beth, in college and after dating for only four months they were engaged to be married. Lucas resided in Laguna Beach, CA and is survived by his wife, two daughters Sydney and Tessa, and a brother, Peter Saxe. Lucas and Beth celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary the day before he passed.
Although his family was the pride and joy of his life, he was also a devoted and successful businessman and community leader. Lucas entered the pet industry in 1994 and with his loved friend and business partner, Michael Farmer, Lucas co-founded three successful companies in the pet products industry. He was also an integral member of his community of Three Arch Bay in Laguna Beach.
In 2017 Lucas began facing health problems and was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. After receiving a double lung transplant from the Cleveland Clinic in February 2018, Lucas received the priceless and precious gift of time with the people he loved. Unfortunately, Lucas passed away due to multiple compounding health complications.
Lucas was honored on August 29th at a private beach ceremony by his family and close friends, but a celebration of life will be scheduled in May/June 2021. The Lucas Saxe Memorial Fund has been established to support pulmonary fibrosis research and education through the Cleveland Clinic. Donations can be made here.
