Meet the ‘World’s Shortest Dog’ Guinness Record Holder

Pearl, the world’s shortest dog, is physically small but has a big personality.

A Chihuahua named Pearl is now officially the “world’s shortest dog living.”

She measures 9.14 centimeters (3.59 inches) in height, meaning she’s shorter than a popsicle stick, according to Guinness World Records.

Pearl, age 2, is a relative of the previous record holder, Miracle Milly (9.65 centimeters; 3.8 inches), who died in 2020 before Pearl was born. Pearl is the daughter of one of Milly’s identical sisters.

“We’re blessed to have her,” said Vanesa Semler, Pearl’s owner. “And to have this unique opportunity to break our own record and share with the world this amazing news.”

Pearl’s record-breaking height was measured at Crystal Creek Animal Hospital in Orlando — the same hospital where she was born.

In length, Pearl measures 12.7 centimeters (5.0 inches) — around the same size as a dollar bill. She weighs 553 grams (1.22 pounds).

The shortest dog ever recorded was a dwarf Yorkshire terrier owned by Arthur Marples of the U.K. The fist-sized dog stood at 7.11 centimeters (2.8 inches). It died in 1945.
