(PRESS RELEASE) WELLESLEY, MA — Top Shelf Dog, a provider of premium, fresh dog food, has introduced upgraded chicken and all-new beef recipes available direct-to-consumer and B2B for wholesale purchasing. Founded in 2019 by Chip Bergstrom and Tom Rosedale, Top Shelf Dog provides an all-natural, real-food solution with a shelf-life, unlike that of the all-natural brands requiring refrigeration. To increase convenience, ease of use, and storage space for dog parents, Top Shelf Dog cartons do not require immediate refrigeration and can be stored in the pantry for up to two years after the production date.

Now available in 8.75 oz portions, nearly an additional ounce at the same price point, Top Shelf Dog has only four main ingredients – Chicken/Beef, Carrots, Green Beans, and Quinoa, with added vitamins and minerals critical to a dog’s health. The chicken and beef recipes are gluten-free, with no artificial preservatives, fillers, or additives, and can be used as a full meal, topper, or treat. Top Shelf Dog is formulated to meet the nutritional requirements established by the AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles for all life stages, from small puppies to larger, adult canines. When introducing new food to canines for the first time, it is recommended that the recipes be shared gradually over the first seven days to avoid an upset stomach.

“Top Shelf Dog was inspired by my father, who, 12 years ago, was regularly cooking for his two dogs,” said CEO and co-founder Chip Bergstrom. “I knew there had to be an easier, better way to feed our dogs real food, get them the nutrients they need, and free up fridge space for our own meals. After years of R&D, we launched our first chicken recipe in 2021. We’re excited to introduce customers to our new-and-improved chicken and all-new beef meals formulated with customer feedback in mind.”

The brand’s new meals were developed over three years in collaboration with a leading university’s food science researchers, to create a shelf-stable, all-natural, human-grade dog food product that doesn’t require refrigeration until opened. In 2023, the founders began working with a sustainable, FSC-certified, recyclable packaging option that extended the shelf-life, was better for the environment, decreased emissions, and increased the serving size, without increasing the cost to consumers.

Top Shelf Dog is available wholesale to retailers. To learn more about wholesale purchasing, please visit this contact form or reach out to info@topshelfdog.com. The product can also be purchased across the U.S. through the brand website and on Amazon. Keep up with the brand as it continues to innovate the pet product industry on its website, Instagram, Twitter(X), Facebook, and Pinterest.

NASC Media Spotlight

At first it was just an idea: Animal supplements needed the same quality control that human-grade supplements receive. But that was enough to start a movement and an organization —the National Animal Supplement Council — that would be dedicated to establishing a comprehensive path forward for the animal supplements industry. In this Media Spotlight interview, NASC’s president, Bill Bookout, talks to PETS+ interviewer Chloe DiVita about the industry today: Where it’s headed, what’s the latest focus and why it’s vital to gain the involvement of independent pet product retailers.
