Do You Or Don't You

Do You Offer Breed-Specific Merchandise at Your Pet Store?

No : 74%

  • We have had magnets, but otherwise no. Just too many kinds of dogs to start with, and then people want it to look like their dog, so you need all kinds of colors for most breeds/mixes. — Shane Somerville, Paddywack, Mill Creek, WA
  • We discontinued offering accessories featuring pictures/artwork of the breed. Dog owners would look and ask for their breed. People would rarely buy and only if it looked exactly like their own dog. Soooo frustrating! — Jodi Etienne, Razzle Dazzle Doggie Bow-tique, Bradley, IL

  • We only carry cards and magnets, and I try to base it off the breeds I see in the neighborhood. Giant breeds do really well for us, and so do the less common breeds that people don’t often see. Also being close to D.C., Portuguese Water Dogs do really well for us. — Annabell Bivens, The Dog Store, Alexandria, VA
  • A small amount. We do best with decals, magnets and stickers that are less than $5. We also have some breed-specific artwork throughout the store that is for sale — Bainbridge Mercantile is our current fave! We also love Sophisticated Pup, Retro Pets Art, Dog Speak. — Whitney Kamish, The Green Spot, Omaha, NE
  • We carry some breed-specific magnets in almost all breeds and some other items like mugs in just the most popular breeds, like Labs, Doodles, Retrievers, Pits, Pugs, Shepherds, Boxers. — Jennifer Larsen, Firehouse Pet Shop, Wenatchee, WA
  • Our tags have some breeds. — Carly Patryluk, House of Paws Pet Boutique, Regina, SK
  • The only breed specific things I sell are Retro Pets magnets, and they’re pretty even steven on popularity. — Holly Lemieux, Pupcakes, Hyannis, MA
  • A very small handful of socks and keychains. Labs, Goldens, Doodles, Pugs, Frenchies, Shepherds, Beagles. — Beth Staley, Happy Dog Barkery, Downers Grove, IL
  • We have a great base of Dachshund lovers (thanks to my rescue following), but we also do well with Boxers, Pit Bulls, Corgis, Golden Retrievers, Huskies and German Shepherd Dogs. — Alison Schwartz, All Pets Considered, Greensboro, NC
