The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has given its blessing to bringing dogs to restaurants, as long as there’s outdoor seating.

The change is part of the updated 2022 FDA food code, WABC-TV reports.

But the FDA still maintains that inside the restaurants, the only canines that should be allowed are service dogs.

Other pets should not be permitted at restaurants at all, according to the agency.

And there’s no requirement that dogs be allowed at restaurants, even if they do have outdoor seating. The decision is left to states, cities and individual restaurants.
