(PRESS RELEASE) MEQUON, WI — Fromm Family Foods, a leader in premium pet food manufacturing for five generations, recently appointed a new Doctor of Companion Animal Nutrition, further supporting their dedication to the art and science behind manufacturing complete and balanced nutrition for dogs and cats.

Prior to her new appointment, Dr. Danielle Opetz was an integral member of the Fromm team for more than seven years, serving as their Nutritionist & Training Manager and later as a nutritional consultant as she pursued her doctorate in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Opetz holds a Bachelor of Science with a Zoology emphasis as well as an advanced degree in Animal Science. Her doctoral emphasis and research focused on the effects of diet on body composition, voluntary physical activity, blood hormones and fecal characteristics of adult cats undergoing weight gain and weight loss conditions, further establishing her as an expert in companion animal nutritional sciences.

Having completed her doctorate work, Opetz will assume a leadership role within the company’s Research and Development team, helping bring new and innovative product offerings to the market, while continually seeking to improve current Fromm products. Her responsibilities will include R&D research on new products, conducting biologicals, technical training, and industry liaison. Her work will help to better connect science-based information on pet health, ingredients, nutrition, and trends to other integral business units including customer service, marketing, and sales.

“As a company, Fromm has a long-standing tradition of taking a science-based approach to companion animal health and nutrition, ” said Tom Nieman, president and owner at Fromm Family Foods. “Danielle’s doctorial work and practical industry experience will help continue that tradition as we develop new premium foods and treats. “It’s very gratifying to work for a company that supports your passions,” said Opetz. “Theoretical education and cutting-edge research coupled with practical industry experience will let me provide an integrated approach to animal health and nutrition. In this new role I’m excited to help impact the science behind how Fromm develops its products. Research is constantly growing and evolving and I’m ready to bring my skills and connections within the academic community to Fromm and their mission.”
