(PRESS RELEASE) DENVER – Morris Animal Foundation is now accepting research proposals for access to data and/or biological samples collected as part of its Golden Retriever Lifetime Study. This call does not include funding.

Researchers interested in data only should explore the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study Data Commons for existing data sets. Those interested in samples or data beyond what is available should visit the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study RFP page to learn more and begin the application process. Proposals are due Friday, July 14, 2023.

The Foundation’s Golden Retriever Lifetime Study is one of the largest, most comprehensive prospective canine health studies in the United States. It began in 2012 and enrolled a cohort of 3,044 dogs by 2015. The primary goal of the Study is to identify the nutritional, environmental, lifestyle and genetic risk factors for cancer and other diseases in dogs.

Resources available to researchers include owner- and veterinarian-reported data as well as biological samples collected annually from the cohort of privately owned dogs living throughout the lower 48 states. Available samples include whole blood, serum, DNA, urine, feces, hair and toenails.

The Foundation is particularly interested in collaborative projects that leverage the longitudinal study design. Applicants can contact datateam@morrisanimalfoundation.org with any questions.
