The Bear & The Rat, a maker of premium frozen dog treats, thaw-and-serve toppers and celebration treats for dogs, is adding Midwest distribution with Pet Food Experts (PFX).
Pet Food Experts services a network of more than 6,200 independently owned pet retail stores in 39 U.S. states within the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Ohio Valley, Midwest, California, Mountain and the Pacific Northwest regions. With a portfolio of over 120 brands, PFX distributes pet food, treats, supplies and toys.

The Bear & The Rat pitched their frozen yogurt for dogs on the popular ABC show, Shark Tank.
While none of the sharks invested in the business, the company attracted the attention of Pet Food Experts at that year’s Global Pet Expo tradeshow and has worked with the distributor since 2014. “We received tremendous brand awareness from consumers who saw our product via an 8-minute prime-time television spot. A small business like ours could never afford the media costs and subsequent exposure that Shark Tank provided us,” says Meg.
