Made Responsibly: Transparency In Sourcing & Sustainable Choices

Food Alliance Certification (Pork Superfood Freeze-Dried Treat)

West Paw is committed to using certified safe meat, as well as farm fresh fruit and vegetables, all sourced in the USA. Pork treats include Food Alliance Certified pork from Washington State. This means 3rd party certification ensures sustainable agricultural and food handling practices, addressing the issues that matter most: safe and fair working conditions, humane treatment of animals, and environmental stewardship. Food Alliance works with farmers, ranchers, food processors and distributors, verifying marketing claims so consumers can trust their food is grown and processed using sustainable practices.

American Grassfed Association Certified (Beef Liver and Beef Heart Freeze-Dried Treats)

West Paw single ingredient treats use American Grassfed Association Certified beef from the Pacific Northwest. Well-managed grazing and grass-fed operations are better for the environment as they use fewer energy-intensive inputs and, by regularly moving animals to fresh pasture and keeping them away from streambeds, they spread the manure more evenly and improve the quality and quantity of forage growth. AGA-Certified producers are inspected at least every 15- months by independent, third parties to ensure continuing compliance with the standards.

Maple Leaf Farms Duck (Duck Superfood Freeze-Dried Treats)

Maple Leaf Farms is the first duck producer in America to establish Duck Well Being Guidelines, ensuring their flocks live in ideal conditions with ample light and fresh air. What’s more, they created the Trident Stewardship Program to help other farms do the same—all while running a sustainable, community-minded duck farm.

Less Waste More Taste: West Paw Protein Selections

The proteins used in West Paw’s freeze dried treats are organ meats that include hearts, livers and other organs. While these proteins come from animals that do end up in the human food chain, for the best in sustainability West Paw chose to use high quality proteins that are outside of the typical human food chain in the United States. By focusing on using proteins that most people in the United States do not eat and are typically waste, West Paw treats are more sustainable because they are keeping high-quality proteins that are nutritional and dogs love out of the landfill.
