(PRESS RELEASE) BOSTON, MA — Guardian Pet Food Company, Inc. announced that Michelle Akers, arguably the greatest soccer player of all time, has signed on as the Official Spokesperson for NOBL Foods, Guardian’s line of dog foods and treats. Over her 15 year career with the US National Team, Michelle won 2 FIFA World Cups (’91 and ’99), Gold Medals at the Atlanta Olympics (’96) and the Goodwill Games (’98). FIFA awarded her with their Order of Merit (FIFA’s highest honor for contributions to the global game) in 1998 and in 2002, she was named the FIFA Female Player of the Century. After retiring from soccer, Michelle went on to found the Michelle Akers Horse & Animal Rescue, a 501(c)3 dedicated to the health and well-being of animals. Michelle lives in Florida with 3 dogs (Jojo, Maddy and Willy Bobby), 2 cats (Baby Kitty and Gracie) and 4 horses (Thunder, Cheyenne, Candy Cane and Cami).

Akers will spearhead Guardian’s brand awareness and consumer outreach campaigns through a variety of events, including appearances at The Soccer Tournament in Cary, NC and at various locations to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the 1999 World Cup victory.

“My dogs are part of the family; we share the couch, birthdays, and whatever life brings us. I want them to be happy, healthy, and with me for as long as possible”, said Michelle Akers. “That’s why NOBL is a no brainer for us. They’ve done the work. My dogs look forward to a great tasting meal that is made with whole foods and easy to feed, at home and on the go. I love it and my dogs love it. I am really excited and happy to partner with NOBL and share the love for the doggos who are part of your family.”

Michelle’s primary focus will be on communicating “Pet First” health and nutrition. As an elite athlete, “pet parent” and animal activist, Michelle knows what it takes to not only thrive, but to rise above the competition and be at your best “everyday” and “on the go”. With real nutrition (nothing artificial or synthetic added), Michelle and NOBL are on a mission to help dogs live longer, better and more active lives. Come see how we stack up against the competition at here.

“We are thrilled and honored to have Michelle Akers join us as the Official Spokesperson for NOBL Foods,” said Jim Galovski, Guardian’s founder & CEO. “Her desire to make a difference in the lives of dogs, her passion to inspire people to live active, healthy lifestyles with their pets and her commitment to excellence aligns perfectly with Guardian’s ethos.”

At first it was just an idea: Animal supplements needed the same quality control that human-grade supplements receive. But that was enough to start a movement and an organization —the National Animal Supplement Council — that would be dedicated to establishing a comprehensive path forward for the animal supplements industry. In this Media Spotlight interview, NASC’s president, Bill Bookout, talks to PETS+ interviewer Chloe DiVita about the industry today: Where it’s headed, what’s the latest focus and why it’s vital to gain the involvement of independent pet product retailers.
