(PRESS RELEASE) Wyld’s Wingdom, one of the largest wholesale distributors of pet bird supplies in the United States, serves as the distributor for a groundbreaking new product called the PerchPal. Designed to help pet bird owners and avian professionals safely retrieve birds from high spots, the PerchPal is the only portable perch that extends up to 56 inches. It also includes an attached cup where users can place their bird’s favorite treat as a way of encouraging them to step onto the reinforced cotton rope perch, which can hold more than three pounds. The PerchPal was introduced at the Global Pet Expo this past March, and will be showcased in the New Product Display at SuperZoo, held August 16-18, 2023 in Las Vegas.

“I developed the PerchPal because I needed a way to retrieve Buzz, my pineapple green-cheeked conure, from the high places where he would land in our home,” said Kathy Young, inventor of the PerchPal. “I began using it many times each day to retrieve and transport Buzz to his cage or play stand. I’m so excited to now be able to share my creation with other pet bird owners and avian professionals.”

In addition to helping owners retrieve their feathered friends from ceilings, curtains, the tops of cabinets and other places they may land, the PerchPal can be used to foster interaction with pet birds, train them, and carry them around without the risk of being bitten. It can also help make human interactions less stressful for birds.

“Kathy is a super creative and took her idea to the professional level,” said Mary Wyld, owner of Wyld’s Wingdom. “The PerchPal is innovative and practical, and I look forward to offering this exciting new product to our clients.”

NASC Media Spotlight

At first it was just an idea: Animal supplements needed the same quality control that human-grade supplements receive. But that was enough to start a movement and an organization —the National Animal Supplement Council — that would be dedicated to establishing a comprehensive path forward for the animal supplements industry. In this Media Spotlight interview, NASC’s president, Bill Bookout, talks to PETS+ interviewer Chloe DiVita about the industry today: Where it’s headed, what’s the latest focus and why it’s vital to gain the involvement of independent pet product retailers.
