Alberta, Canada-based Champion Petfoods is considering a sale, according to a media report.

The price tag could exceed $2 billion, Bloomberg reports, citing unnamed “people with knowledge of the matter.”

The company is in the early phases of considering the possibility, according to the report. Other options are also on the table.

Champion officials would not comment for Bloomberg’s story.

Champion is backed by Bedford Capital, a private equity firm.

Reports of a potential Champion sale have emerged before. In 2018, Nestlé was said to be considering a $2 billion purchase of the company.
