Scan-Tastic: Big Growth Seen in Self-Checkout Systems

The global market for self-checkout systems, estimated at $3.7 billion in 2022, is projected to nearly triple to $9.3 billion by 2030, a new report from ResearchAndMarkets.com (Dublin, Ireland). Fueling that growth will be rising demand for such scanners by retailers and ongoing advancements in their technology, the report notes.

Where is growth in the market most likely to take place?

“The self-checkout systems market in the U.S. is estimated at $1.5 billion in the year 2022,” the report states. “China, the world’s second-largest economy, is forecast to reach a projected market size of $1.5 billion by 2030 … Among the other noteworthy geographic markets for such equipment are Japan and Canada … Within Europe, Germany is forecast to see the most growth.”
